BRAZIL - Solidarity with the Olaria Barra do Mirador Community

July 17, 2019

On the 9th of July the fascist Brazilian forces attacked a peasant community  in the north of Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil. Hundreds of heavily armed military police officers stormed into the area, trying to threaten the families of the community to force the singing of an “agreement” which would legalize the theft of their land.

The Olaria Barra do Mirador Community which is supported by the League of Poor Peasants (LCP) is known for their combative struggle against the big landlords. They have occupied 19 previously unproductive lands and developed them. The peasants have not been intimidated, they went on in the struggle denouncing the fascist landlord state. It was one more aggression of the Brazilian State against the peasants in the last couple of weeks.

Supports of the Olaria Barra do Mirador Community carried out a blockade of a road linking Januaria to the city of Miravânia, with pieces of wood, fire and stripes denouncing the responsible landlord Iratians Walter Arantes.
