RUSSIA - Mass protest against increase of retirement age

August 10, 2018

The Government of Russia is increasingly increasing the attacks on the workers. There are currently massive nationwide protests against the increase in the retirement age. This is supposed to raise the age for women from 55 years to 63 and for men from 60 to 65 years.
The previous retirement age in Russia is one of the lowest in the world. It is an achievement from the socialist era of the Soviet Union under Comrade Stalin!
The wave of protest started during the world championship. The masses could not be intimidated by the limited right of assembly and demonstration, which was severely restricted during the World Cup.
Rallies and demonstrations started in 30 cities on the first of July. At the end of July, more than 100,000 people went to the streets in Moscow to demonstrate against the planned reform.
Not only the increase in the retirement age was attempted during the World Cup. Unnoticed, the value added tax also increased by two percent, which led to an increase in the price of gasoline of 20 percent.

All this is a clear attack on the workers! Even the massive oppression and repression against revolutionaries has been more aggressive.

Workers unite in the struggle against fascism and imperialism!
